We begin pruning the almond tree

Jan 11, 2021 | FARMING, ALMENDRO, NUTS | 0 comments

Due to the current situation of COVID-19, the training that we have been carrying out year after year from the Technical Services of SCA Los Remedios, has been drastically modified, going from doing it in our conference and meeting room to doing them in a more personalized way, on the farm itself with a reduced number less than 6 persons.

As pictures show, the pruning that is mostly being carried out is that of Training, corresponding to trees smaller than 4 years in its different formats, like this in the photo 1 and 3 we have trees of a green, lauranne variety and pie GF-677 planted in pot in February 2020. In the photo 2 the plant corresponds to a constant variety and foot GF-677 planted with bare roots in January 2020.

The main farming system in the region is rainfed, with a supportive irrigation in the first years, For this reason, the pruning to be practiced on these trees must take into account the vegetative capacity as well as the productive capacity when they enter production..

The recommended formation pruning is typical of fruit trees, creating different productive floors between winter pruning (where the branches that will give rise to the floors are defined) and in green during the month of May.
