PRODUCTION CAN BE AROUND 1.300.000 TONS

The cooperative Dcoop foresees that the next olive oil harvest in Spain will be "medium-low" and will be around the 1.300.000 tons. It downplays the effects that the heat wave can have on the olive grove, since the "key" will be that the rain is not delayed in September.
The Deputy General Manager of Dcoop, Rafael Sánchez de Puerta, He explained in a recent statement that the "main problem" that the field has this year is the low rainfall that has occurred in winter, reason why "the fundamental thing" is that there are rains in September.
It has played down the high temperatures of this month of July. Nevertheless, the heat registered in May "was much worse" and produced more crop losses, in cereals and olive groves in some areas, it was in full bloom, has affirmed.
Regarding the forecasts for the harvest, anticipated that it will be "better" than last year, in which they were accounted 835.000 tons of oil in Spain, but it will be "far" from the record reached two years ago, from 1.780.000 tons, so it could be around 1.300.000 tons.
