USE OF HERBICIDES IN THE OLIVE GROVE

GUIDELINES TO MAKE THE USE OF THESE PRODUCTS AS EFFECTIVE AS POSSIBLE
The moment is approaching to control the herbs that are present in the olive grove, We are going to remember some indications to take into account so that the use of herbicides is as effective as possible:

Make the application when the plant is most sensitive.
Recognize well the herbs that are in our olive grove and know which ones predominate more. This is necessary to correctly choose the herbicide that will have the most effect..
Do not claim that with a single product all weeds are eliminated. Herbicides are not all perfect and practically everyone misses some species, so it is important to know more effective combinations in relation to our circumstances.
Use the appropriate dose of product, that is indicated on the package label. Using doses lower than these can lead to the regrowth of weeds or have no effect.
· There are occasions in which several commercial brands have the same active substance at the same concentration; but they don't have the same effect (not the same price). This is because there are commercial brands that add additives to the product that improve its absorption by the plant., and therefore its effect and efficacy.
Check application equipment, that it is well regulated and has the correct nozzles and they are clean.
Monitor the water used. In our area the water tends to have quite a lot of lime (what is shown by the pH index: the more lime the higher the pH). This lime reduces the activity of the herbicide, so it is highly advisable to use pH correctors; especially in the case of using Glyphosate.

Following these guidelines can greatly improve herbicide results, which implies a better economic performance of the olive grove.
